A Necklace Giveaway - Your chance to win!

I am sorry I am behind schedule, I promised to post the giveaway over the weekend, but the weekend got in the way. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I had an additional three days off last week, spent sometime completing and delivering a custom order of jewelry for a friend's wedding party, spent sometime/lunch with a very good friend, and some doctor's appointments.
Then the weekend, all chores done, restful and ribs on Labor day!
On Tuesday it was back to work and the two hours of Glee!
Wednesday got away, and today is Thursday... and here is my post.

I am giving away this necklace I made with the beautiful stoneware pendant from MaryAnn Carroll to one lucky winner. You can read all about it in my previous post.

But first I would like you to answer a few simple questions about your experience (or not) with FaceBook. Here are some interesting facts about FaceBook.
Did you know that 54% of FB users are female? And that FB users grew by 145% from January 2009 to January 2010. The greatest growth was in the 34 to 54 and 55+ age groups. (www.istrategylabs.com).
This is the age group to whom many of us sell our jewelry, therefore it stands to reason that to market our jewelry through FB would be a great idea. Agreed?

Many years ago, RubyLane encouraged its shop owners to join FB in order to market one's business. And I did. At first it was whoa.. overwhelming, but soon I came to enjoy being in touch with family and friends here in the USA and from all parts of the world. The best part is getting to see their photos, being connected in their lives, even though I am not a very chatty person, keeping in touch this way was easy. So personally, I enjoy it.

I, then started a business page with not much success, I must admit.
So here's the catch

To be entered to win, you have to do one of the following:
  • Be a follower of Regina's Writings (that's my blog!) - one entry
  • Post about this giveaway in your blog - another entry, please come back to tell me about it to be counted for the second entry.
  • Answer the following questions for another entry:
  1. Are you on FB to promote your business?
  2. Has it helped your business? If yes, how?
  3. What advice would you give me to help me with my business on FB?
  4. Be a fan of Regina's Writings on Facebook for another entry. Somebody, please show me how to link my FaceBook page to my blog? I have also been told that the FB page should be in the same name as your shop, what do you say?
  5. Should I just forget about FB?
I hope you will take the time to play (hope I did not ask too many questions)... and who knows you might be the lucky one.
The winner will be drawn at random on the last day of September and the winner's name posted on the 1st of October. Thank you all for your time.

1. Are you on FB to promote your business? - Yes, just a few months though.

2. Has it helped your business? If yes, how? - It has gotten me to friends and family that are far away to see what I'm doing.

3. What advice would you give me to help me with my business on FB?
- Keep it up. Keep mentioning it on your blog and anywhere you go.

I "like" you on Facebook. Both my personal and necklace page. Does this count as 2 entries?

I do follow your blog, as for face book I do have facebook too, although I haven't tried to use it as a way to sell my jewelery, I am kind of a computer retard, so my shop didn't get off the ground.....I'm sure if you know your way around all the internet stuff and facebook, it should work for you

Interesting questions...I do not use FB that much. There are too many other things demanding my time (reading your blog among 100s of others is one!). But I know that it works for some if you are diligent in using it to its fullest.

Congrats on the necklace!

Enjoy the day!

Now, my thoughts for Facebook. Yes I use it and it's my favorite social media tool.

It's helped my business tremendously. Without FB I would not have orders shipping out to Argentina, Guam and Canada as we speak.

The Facebook Marketing Strategy can work for anyone... but the most important thing to remember is that no matter what media you are using, promoting your artisan created work is about building relationships. People buy from those they trust and feel comfortable with.

As the old saying goes, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

I've joined several handmade groups on FB to meet others who appreciate and support handcrafted items. I actually wrote an entire newsletter about my FB tips for my subscribers. I'd be happy to send you a copy so I don't ramble here. :) Just send me your e-mail address! designsbydawnmd@gmail.com

This is a great topic! I'm more than happy to help!

I have a facebook page for my jewelry, but do not have a business associated with it. For now, my jewelry is just a hobby... so, I don't have many followers and I don't generate sales from it (other than a few requests from friends). I don't sell my jewelry, so I don't have a lot of advice. However, it seems like link love and joining groups of like minded people (i.e. jewelry groups) helps a lot because then you have people promoting you outside of your normal group of friends. You end up with a much larger reach and more people finding out about you.

I have linked my facebook page to my blog. Here's how I did it:

***Sent via email because blogger wouldn't allow me to post the html code I use in the comments section***

I hope this helps. There may be an easier way, but that's how I created a link with a picture to my fb page!

I just posted your Giveaway on my blog. Remembered after the weekend would be a bit late. To answer your FB questions, I just use it for socializing, posting jewelry photos, and I don't have the time to pursue another outlet for selling. I suppose you'd need to try it for yourself to really know. Best of success, whatever you decide!

I am a follower and just liked you (in a FB sense - I already like you :-). I just started a beads for busy gals page on FB partly for business and partly to clearly separate my friends and family from my jewelry cutomers - some of the former are also part of the latter - but I didn't want it to seem like I was selling to those FB friends I work with as part of my day job (follow all that?). While I LOVEblogging about beads I have come to realize that at this point most of my followers are fellow bearers - so it's to really making any sales. I think FB will be a better way to connect with potential customers. I am a vendor in a small craft fair next Saturday and plan to hand out "friend me on FB for future sales and specials" flyers and see how that goes. My frustration right now is that I have many ideas and not much time. I am hoping to work out 2 months off next summer so will get the chance to work my biz full time and see what happens. ( sorry for rambling :-))

I am already a follower of your blog.

I have a Releases by Rufydoof page on Facebook. I am not brave enough to sell my pieces yet so use FB in addition to my blog to promote my beading.

Thanks for a great giveaway!
