Hot Summers and Fish Beads and a Giveaway!

Mortira of Inspirational Beading has posted today about her wish list for fish beads. Check out her blog post for a variety of fun fish beads for your summer beading. Reading her post reminded me of a fish bead necklace that I strung together not too long ago.

I purchased a necklace made by Tibetan artisans from Nepal. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the original design. I decided to take it apart and re-string it... and here is my design. I used only the beads that were part of the original necklace, stabilized turquoise beads, red coral discs, tiny brass spacer beads and a brass hook and eye clasp.

Don't you love the vivid detail on the reversible fish bead, It is made of brass, and has a turquoise cabochon for eyes (on both sides). I call this 'Hot Summers in Florida!' The heat, the beach and the fishing...

The original necklace had two such fish beads, but as you can see I only used one of them. So I will gladly give away the other fish bead (Note: only the fish bead) to one randomly chosen commenter, so that you can design your own fun summer necklace. The fish bead I am giving away looks quite like the one pictured above. To be entered in my giveaway, please leave a comment, telling me what you would like to make with such a fish bead. Spreading the word about this giveway would be appreciated too. I will pick a winner on June 30.
Have a fun summer!

I love the necklace that you made and the fish bead is awesome! I like how it has the turquoise cabs for the eyes. I have some turquoise rounds that I think would make a very nice bracelet with one of the fish beads.

I'll post about your giveaway on my blog.

Have a great day!

Beautiful necklace! i would use the fish bead with some of my hoarded turquoise and put the fish swimming up the side of the necklace with several strands of beads trailing behind! Thank you!

Lovely necklace. I'd love to take up beading. Even have the beads. Just need to make time for it.

I think it would be cute as an anklet for the summer, but it looks like it would be too big. But I'd try an anklet first and if too big, a bracelet for summer fun.

Well I sure let this fish get completely away. It's a fantastic necklace and I do love the beads you used along with that stunning fish bead. I know the winner will absolutely adore it.
With Blogger's new format I find I can't check the blogs I follow the way I used to. I think I am going to revert back to the old format and hope they never make the new format compulsory. :( But next time you have a giveaway please contact me via my email address and let me know so I can put a post on my blog. :) Gosh if some of my blog buddies knew I missed this one and didn't post about it they'd tar and feather me. :D
